Yoshino and Omine are mystical places where gods and immortals live. The rugged mountains stretching from Yoshino in Nara to Kumano in Wakayama are the birthplace of Shugendo, and many people have visited the area for training and prayer since ancient times. During the Heian period, even Fujiwara no Michinaga and the Emperor visited the area, and it has been a special place of faith in every era.

In recent years, many of the gold-lettered sutras on dark blue paper that Michinaga donated have been discovered at Kinpusen-ji Temple, and they are currently undergoing restoration and preservation. This exhibition will bring together treasures born from the faith and nature of this area, including the restored national treasure, the gold-lettered sutras on dark blue paper, as well as a statue of En no Gyoja and a development of Zao. This special exhibition will widely convey the charm of Yoshino Omine, a sacred place for Shugendo.
